SENIOR AWARDS

Applications for 2026 Senior Awards are now open.

Instrumental soloists (21-27 years of age) and chamber ensembles (average age 21-27 years), are invited to apply for financial assistance from the Hattori Foundation for projects taking place between 1 September 2026 and 31 August 2027.

Awards may be offered for:
  • financial assistance relating to intensive private study in the UK or abroad
  • financial assistance to attend masterclasses
  • living allowance and travel expenses in connection with a post-graduate course
  • living allowance in the UK to reduce the need for work unrelated to performance
  • financial assistance (sponsorship) in connection with concert performances
  • travelling expenses in order to enter international competitions
Please note that funding is not available for singers, conductors, composers, orchestral courses, full-time study or instrument maintenance/purchase and awards cannot be made in arrears.

While the Trustees may use their discretion to consider all styles of classical music, please note that the Hattori Foundation’s focus is the support of musicians of western classical music.

The Trustees of the Hattori Foundation also consider whether from the applicants there is a performer ready to benefit from the challenge and professional exposure of a performance with a leading London orchestra.  If so, we seek to create an opportunity for that performance to happen  (see past debut prize award winners here).
The deadline for 2026 applications is the close of business on Thursday 30 April 2026.

The selection process for awards will be held in two stages, the first by completed application form with online recordings (either audio-only or video), and then audition by invitation over the weekend of 6/7 June 2026 in London.

All applicants will be advised whether or not they have passed to the second stage.

All correspondence and completed application forms and references should be sent to:

The Administrator, Hattori Foundation,
C/o 1901 Arts Club, 7 Exton Street, London  SE1 8UE
