Instrumental Soloists: Eligibility Checklist

Before completing an application form please complete this eligibility check list.

If, after reading this list, you still consider yourself eligible to apply then you may complete the Application Form, attaching information requested in questions 1-9 and send it with your recent cassette or CD (not video) recording and two sealed references to the Hattori Foundation.

  1. Will you be between the ages of 21 and 27 on 30th April 2008?

  2. Are you a British National, or if not, are you studying full-time in the UK or permanently resident in the UK?

  3. Can you demonstrate promise of an international career with evidence of concert experience and future solo engagements?

  4. Does the period for which you are seeking assistance fall between 1st September 2008 and 31st August 2009?

  5. Can you confirm that you have not received funding from another charitable foundation for this same project and that you are not applying for assistance with course fees?

  6. Do you have a recent cassette or CD recording of your work of at least 30 minutes duration which includes at least three contrasting works chosen from different periods, including Classical and contemporary?

  7. Would your current teacher and one other prominent musician be willing to act as referee for your application and to confirm that you are an exceptionally talented instrumental soloist with the promise of an international career?
